It’s my life and I don’t care if I am on a wrecking ball. Wrecking My Life should be the headline for anything that Miley Cyrus is doing these days, lol. Seriously, Miley isn’t the only one who has been on a wrecking ball, she is just the only one crazy enough to literally sit on one with little to no clothes on to get her point across.
Wrecking balls are used to demolish buildings. Miley being on a wrecking ball naked was an indication to me that she was desperate for attention and wants nothing more than to wreck her own life. Instead of using the video to portray what her lyrics discussed she decided to take a more risky approach to convey her message. I totally get being creative, and trying to express yourself in the most unique fashion, but trying so hard to be someone you aren’t is a huge problem.
As of late, Miley has been doing several abnormal stunts to get attention and to change her image. It does appear that she is getting exactly what she wants, and that’s tons of publicity that will have a short lived future.
I have questions as it relates to the whole Miley Cyrus debacle: What’s the deal with having an edgy bad-girl image? Was your life to normal? What was wrong with you being a positive role-model? Why are you trying so hard to escape what brought you fame in the first place? You weren’t raised in a bad environment, why try to depict one?
I use Miley as an example, because she is the most recent celebrity attracting attention for her antics. But truth be told, most of us have had a mild or severe case of Miley syndrome, where we think we are in control of our lives and can do what we want. How did that work out? Probably not as envisioned. Why? Because, our lives are not our own. We don’t get the luxury of doing what we want and when we do there is only surface level gratification. We belong to God and he created us before the foundations of this earth with a specific assignment that He needed us to fulfill. . The beautiful thing is we all have an assignment and play a major role in the fulfilling God’s purpose here on earth and must stop trying to do the opposite.
They are so many individuals who have influence but don’t use it for good. What is the point of having the fame, fortune, and influence if you aren’t going to be an example for others or do something positive as a result? There are young people who desperately need as much positive influence as possible. It needs to be known that successful can happen without being selling their soul to a particular industry in order to be successful. I get exhausted having to see and read about celebrities, athletes, and people of influence wrecking their lives on these “imaginary balls” because they are doing what they want to do.
I love what The Message Bible says in Romans 12: 2, “Don’t become so well-adjusted to your culture that you fit into it without even thinking. Instead, fix your attention on God. You’ll be changed from the inside out. Readily recognize what he wants from you, and quickly respond to it. Unlike the culture around you, always dragging you down to its level of immaturity, God brings the best out of you, develops well-formed maturity in you.”
Let’s allow God to do His work in us and then we can transform the world by being who we are authentically called to be and not who we think we should be. Remember we don’t own the rights to our life God does so live righteously for Him.
Don’t just look IT, but be IT, because you are IT!
