If you are like me at some point you have stopped your workout regimen for one reason or another. I raise my hand in guilt as I too have gotten off track at one point. Presently, I am on track and in a nice groove, but I noticed that coming back into running was a bit more challenging. In fact it was much more difficult to run consistently and for greater lengths of time than before. Weird right?
I’m currently training for a milestone race in 2013 in the M-I-A-YO (Miami, FL.) and while I was on my run all I could hear was ENDURE. ENDURE. ENDURE. So I pressed through to complete my miles for the day. With a sense of accomplishment I smiled and was grateful for completing what appeared and felt as though it wasn’t going to happen.
The next day while taking a cardio, strength, and interval class affectionately know as C.S.I, the instructor had us doing burpees (my favorite “rolling eyes”) and lap intervals. Seriously, I thought my heart was about to jump out of my chest and my legs were going to unattach themselves from my body, but all I could hear was ENDURE. ENDURE. ENDURE.
Subsequently, while I am being challenged physically, I began to be attacked mentally, emotionally, financially, and spiritually. It was war… spiritual warfare! I was wrestling with decisions, second guessing myself, and simply perplexed. I felt God gently nudging me in one direction to do more and grow, but the enemy was there too. It was like I had a good angel and bad angel on my shoulders waiting on me to choose a side. It was getting real heavy real quick. Throughout these issues I heard the Helper say keep praising and worshiping. Endure.
So at this point, I am over the hearing Endure. Yet, I hear endure again, but in a different context. My Pastor, Dr. Michael A. Freeman quotes 2 Timothy 2:3, which states “You therefore must endure hardship as a good soldier for Jesus Christ”
The light bulb comes on as the bell inside my head is like… ding, ding, ding it’s a winner! I had to quickly dismiss any negative thoughts. I reminded myself that I always win, was built for tough, and stand firm on the word of God. I mean I do want to be a good soldier for big J.C.
Essentially, we aren’t guaranteed a cake walk life with no challenges, problems, and/ or spiritual warfare. But, God will always provide a way out. So endure the hardship, stay strong, and know that He is able to do exceedingly abundantly above anything we can ask or think.
Keep shining while you ENDURE, it looks good on you!
